Currently in the first stage of shooting for Falmouth’s Sisley store’s forthcoming mail order website which is currently in the draft stage over at Liminal Design Studios. I still have to shoot one more location, with model Sophie Mc Donnald.

I’ll post some more as and when, along with the website link when it’s live.

After researching Sisley, the Italian female casual wear brand. I found myself in awe of their photography. I had to refine my approach in order to do it justice, and fit in with the brands style. So, we flew to the lava fields of Lanzarote, where I knew the ingredients would compliment each other perfectly.

If you were wondering who shot the Beachbeat ad, and came up with the copy. Wonder no longer… Hands up, it was me. I love it when a surf brand use something other than aspirational surf action image to sell their wares. One of my favourite surf ads was by Oxbow. It had Laird ‘I own the Sea and I am brave’ Hamilton, standing in-front of a Dam holding a surfboard with a dynamite plunger in his hand… ready to blow the dam and ride the massive torrent. Wowsers.

As soon as the deviant/pro surfer/Beachbeat surfboard technician, Shaun ‘Skippy’ Skilton heard his employers were using this portrait in an ad, he shaved his hair off to avoid recognition. Not sure why, this is a claimer if ever I’ve seen one.

I intend on shooting the locals in the style of the Sartorialist over the coming month, which will then be bound into a fine art coffee table book available for online orders.

Here’s a shot I took today, in Redruth, in preparation for the forth coming onslaught of eye opening documentary/fashion photography. The aesthetics of the photography will rely on natural light and depth of field. Using a full frame sensors and 100mm primes. Exposure compensation will be of particular use, as you can see in this shot (taken on a much overrated Canon G10) shooting into the sun and exposing for the face aided me to turn a snap shot into a nice little image which works despite the awkward bin and lamppost. I’m really excited about this self commissioned brief. The book should be fun to shoot and full to the brim with character!
